Hi. My first post here. I am working on a sunset image from Hawaii that has lots of reds, oranges, pinks, etc. in it. When I open it in PS it displays correctly, but when I use "Save for Web & Devices" before posting to my blog, all the colors wash out and it looks horrible. The same thing happens when I export a web gallery from Lightroom - it just washes out despite looking correct when opened in Lightroom. Anyone know what is going on here? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

are you converting the profile to sRGB before you "save for web"?

I'm not actually. How do i convert that in PS? Edit-Color Settings?

go to edit > convert to profile
that will bring up a dialogue box, change your destination space to sRGB (it will have a bunch of numbers after it, like sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
Under conversion options, I use the intent as perceptual.
Then save for web. Hope that helps!

don't save for web. it does horrible, horrible things to your images. simply use "save as" and save it as a baseline standard jpeg with a quality of 8 or 9.
just in case i didn't make my point the first time: save for web sucks.... don't use it....
