Last nite we, my hubby Nick and I, shot at the Wickliffe house here in Charleston, SC for a great couple, Stan & Stephanie. She owns a chocolate bakery in San Fran & made all the desserts for the event. They were going for the 40s glamour style. Very cool people, very fun nite. Here are a few of my favorites. Today we went around town and trashed her dress. It was misty and about 65 degrees out. They were real troopers, the water in the fountain was COLD!! Let me know what you think....

I'm thinking of using #5 for our advertising. Or maybe #6?
We're trying to pump up the website soon to get on WPJA now that we've shot some number of weddings ouselves (not working for other photographers).
Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Rachel, those are wonderful shots, and very full of meaning to the couple.
The detail shot of the chocolates is fantastic, as are the shots in the fountain. As far as WPJA goes, I would suggest that you use very little in the way of "camera aware" shots with both people obviously having been posed. The WPJA has some "guidelines" on their website that may be of help to you.
As well, I would offer that you really don't "need" the approval of WPJA. You guys are fantastic photographers, with or without the endorsement of the WPJA.

I actually would like to join WPJA to enter their contests. You know, build some clout and add "award winning photographer". Not that I really care, but clients like that.

Not to come off like a sour grape here, but I have found that most clients like a photographer who just does a kick-bootie job on their wedding.

hehe. Award winners or not.
I've mentioned a certain 4 letter association to a number of recent clients and interestingly enough, only about 1 in 5 knew what it was.
Concentrate on your website, and on your SEO and page ranking, and you'll really be far further ahead than worrying about membership.

I'm so jealous! I got married before I became a full time photographer. So trashing the dress or excellent ideas like that never entered my mind. I sold my dress for something like $60 at a consignment store (they had a 1/2 off sale). Arg!

I love dress trashing shots! And no one I ever shoot with wants to do them... maybe one day... I'll keep hoping!
Great work!
