ok guys, if i wasnt sick, i would post pics, but i'm bed bound and have a kleenex box surgically attached to my arm.

anyhow, lisa got me started on photo jewelry cause she had it on her blog so i tried it out and oh boy. beautiful keepsakes that are just out of this world!

i got my MIL a necklace with a picture from her wedding, its gorgeous. i got the bracelet with 8 pics - now the pics are kinda tiny, but its really cute.

check it out -
photo jewelry

i think if for photographers who work with children, these are priceless!

Hey Tami,
I hope you feel better very soon ~
Thanks for sharing this link. These are gorgeous. I would love to know the average mark up and if they sell well. I agree that the kid ones really work!

as far as i know, the prices posted are the prices, period. i told them i wanted to start carrying their line, but they didnt give me any different pricing info.

my bracelet is really cute, i really really like it. as i said, the finished image is a bit small in the bracelet, but i know what they are and i love it.

yep- I love Kimbra- I've been offering this for a while now- I had used a different company, but I'm 100% with Kimbra.
You have to buy a sample kit before you can start ordering from them as a wholesaler...
You can order $500 worth of product for half off, and that is your kit.
It's been a hit for moms & Christmas sales are starting to take off!

I'll post pics of mine soon.

I want a ring. But I have three children.

I've seen photo jewelry around and that is some of the nicer stuff I've seen.

I love their stuff...really love it. I have checked out all of the photo companies that I know of and their jewelry is the best in my opinion. But...I don't have a studio and don't want to order $500 worth of products. Otherwise I would definitely be using them.

Out of all the jewelry places I've used, Kimbra is definitely the BEST.
Jewelry is a pain in the butt. No way around it. But Kimbra does the best job with the lowest % of problem orders.
I wish they had an affiliates program
I do like that she gives photographers photo credit on her site!!!

I've been looking into making my own... I'd rather provide handmade items that I've created--but I want to bind my own albums at some point too. it's a winter project that I've been wanting to get started on. wink.gif

Some people have great luck selling photo jewelry. Other people don't. We didn't have much luck at all. It can be a great add-on, though.

I think the Christmas tree ornements are a great choice, everything else I think depends on you clientel. I can't see tiffany shoppers wearing some of that stuff. That belt buckle for men come on?

I use to offer jewlery and it was a pain, and I didn't make much money considering the time and stuff. From now on I will just send them to retailer. If I like the person I would just upload the image to the retailer for them, if I don't then they can pay my $50 per digital image fee and buy it themselves.

Thanks for the link because I am not sure that the lady I use to work with is still doing it.

And I am pretty sure I am gonna get myself the keychain. So many times people ask to see pictures of my kids and I don't have any on me. They think I am crazy since I am a photographer, I just forget to put in my purse and sometimes I don't have my purse on me, but I always have my car keys.

Quick question... what is turnaround time?
blameymack
jill, you actually only PAY $250 for your kit.. you are just getting $500 worth of product for 1/2 that....
this is what I got for that $250:
a ring
3 pendants (with the necklace included)
keychain
ornament
4-charms WITH the bracelet included

turnaround time is about 3-4 weeks.

so you dont get to pick what samples you want? that sounds odd - i mean, why would i want samples of something that i dont think would sell well~?

i have sent them another email - they are very slow with responding btw - but they are very good with their cs - i placed two orders and asked them to combine them for shipping reasons (international) and they really stepped up and made sure they were combined.

I found a local jeweler at a fair this summer and worked with her to make our own line for my clients. It's a great way to offer jewelry that's designed around your style, is unique and you don't have to buy a sample kit. Just an idea for any of you that don't want the big sample upfront cost and want something that really matches your photography...I'm sure there are a lot of independent jewlery makers out here looking for business. You can see mine at

I know - but the point is - I don't want/need a kit and don't understand why they force you to have one. I think it might be easier to swallow if I had children myself and could order things that I could wear myself. Oh well...

i agree! i dont like being forced to buy it either - that is why i am buying stuff i will wear as well. you could always buy one piece for show - and just charge retail prices. ??

I am excited about working with Kimbra. I just requested some information. Her products look like excellent quality, as I have looked at others and they looked cheesy! Thanks Amy! And I still love your new SIS! tongue.gif
