Thought this was an interesting website, and that it could help as a marketing tool, as well as a planning tool.

If this site is correct then most are spending more on our photography than on the rest of the wedding. I think the stats are wrong.

Not sure what showed for your area, but it was different for us - Northern California. While the Average was much higher than I expexted, the amount "most couples" spend was way below our packages...

Wonder where they get their info and how up to date it is - which year are they basing this on?

I think it's pretty correct for my area. my prices are based around the average bride spending $2,000- $2,600 (when they sign their contract). According to these stats, that is close to what the average bride spends here ($1,900- $2,800 depending on which town around the city). I do end up with the average of $2,500-$3,200 once all said and done though. so I guess I'm doing ok... for still figuring this whole business thing out.

Okay so here's the info for my zip code:

On average, couples that live in 75023 (Plano, TX) spend $41,559 for their wedding. However, most couples in this area spend between $31,169 and $51,949 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.

So an average of 40K for the whole wedding yet HERE is the average for photography:

Photographer $2,948 $2,211 - $3,685

Hmm that is lower than I expected. I don't think I can really say thou.. I guess I haven't been in biz long enough to really compare.

Than on the reception too?? THAT would be weird.

The stats are pretty good for the cities around me. I'm glad they give a range and an average.

I would be interested to know where they get their stats too.... I guess it does say, "based on our research at The Wedding Report, Inc." I know they send surveys out about every month to photographers...maybe they check with many other vendors too, and compile their results.

It says that in my area most couples spend between $6,670 and $20,011 for their wedding.

It's sad here on the Island of Kauai for local business.
