Hello all...
I have been noticing at some of my darker receptions, focus issues with my lenses. I am sure its lack of light, and trouble with contrast, and finding what to focus on. I am contemplating a video light to assist my SB, but will it really help? Has anyone else had this issue and if so, any advice?

I am shooting the D700 and using 60 2.8, and 50 1.8 {although I think I need to upgrade this lens}.

Any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

We borrowed a Lowell Video light from a local friend photog and I loved it. We had been using these cool light guns that we saw at WPPI last year and they work great too but not as strong as the video light. If you can afford any thing like those it is worth it. We used the video light to light up the couple on the dance floor and it was a big difference. It didnt light up the whole floor you would need more light for that unless it is really small...

I used to battle this what you have to do is make sure the infrared is on on your flash or shoot Ettl or TTL .... if you dont like to use the on camera flash like I do take a soft box and put black electrical tape on all of the box so whatever comes out of that flash will not affect the outcome.

shooting in low light receptions is common..
