Anyone have any juicy insider info on this?

Theories? Fake?

IF someone proves that the PC-E lenses make a larger than 35mm image circle then it could be real. If not, it's probably a fake. Time will tell.

I did hear that they were coming out with a full frame point and shoot with Leica lenses. I know a new 50mm is on the way, but other than that I have know idea.

Medium format?

MX format. I think that is medium format.

Its all over NikonRumors.com, has been for a few weeks now.

Why not put a larger sensor in a 35mm body - See the Leica S2
MikeRichards
I believe that is what Nikon is up to. If you go to NikonRumors.com, they have some great info on it. Nikon is supposed to release a bunch of lenses to go with it but who knows with Nikon. I had such high hopes for a bunch of fast primes, now, I am sad... 17.gif

S2 is not a 35mm body.... seeing as 35mm is a formfactor. The Leica is its own form factor entirely...

If they are coming out with what you guys think they may be coming out with, could you imagine what something like this would cost? On top of that, how big of a market would their be for it?

I bet it would cost about $9000 with a brand spanking new 80mm lens and $8500 without.

Why? I can only imagine it'd be cheaper than the Leica S2, and only a bit more than a 1dsMIII, it just has to have better/equal IQ to the 5dMII.

If only Canon would have just made a improved gapless sensor design with same or similar number of pixels (13-16MP) with pixel size the same as the old 5D, it would be a sweet sensor. Too bad they shrunk the pixel size for the 5D II. I wonder if it will be able to obtain an equally good image with the smaller size. I am skeptical as of now...

LOL then they just would have called it the D700 I suppose! (Nikons 12mp FF sensor is gapless as well)
ChrisH
I'd be okay with them calling it the 7D =) D700 is a fantastic camera so I don't mind the comparison.

Let's just hope it can focus.
