I need to get set up with some studio management software...soon! I'm 99% portrait photography and I'm looking for something that will help me manage (hopefully) longterm relationships with clients. In addition to basic information like address, phone number, etc., I'd like to track children's names, ages and birthdays and perhaps be able to generate monthly lists of birthdays. I'd also like to be able to make notes about each client, where I met them, etc. Does ShootQ make this feasible and do I want to wait indefinitely for V2 to come out or should I start looking for something else?

ShootQ is the ULTIMATE solution, hands down the best thing i've ever done for organization, contact and job management for my business.
I'm not really sure what I am and am not allowed to say at the moment, but what I can say is that ShootQ V2 will knock your socks off. I have been a V1 user for almost a year now and ShootQ turned my organization and workflow around so well, I didn't know if it could get any better. Ummmm well, let's just say the guys (and girls) at LaCour are geniuses.
You won't have to wait too long for V2. Once the alpha testing is done (within the next couple of weeks) I would bet that we'll see a final version available before year's end. Don't take my word for it, but that's my guess. And it will be sooo worth it!
If you have any other questions about ShootQ feel free to shoot me a PM or email or of course post here. I'm sure you'll get a few more users here who will share their wonderful experiences with SQ... it really is the bomb!

Shoot Q rocks my world. V2 will be worth the wait. I am hoping they address some of the concerns I had, and it sounds like they were working on it for V2.

I don't have any experience with ShootQ but another option to compare it to is GigBooks. Gigbooks will allow you to track such things.

Gigbooks looks very useful, but nothing beats shootQ's intuitive interface and their super-powerful features (which btw are improving every day!)
Good luck on your decision, but I think the choice is obvious

I've heard nothing but great things about Shoot Q and will definitely be using it soon. Apparently, you can go ahead and get v1 and when v2 comes out, it'll transfer all your stuff to the new version...so you don't have to wait to start

Does ShootQ allow you to track business expenses/income in addition to client relationships? And can you record things like time, mileage, invoices, etc?

Okay, I'll try and hold out for the next version. I've been reading through old posts here about ShootQ and it does really sound like what I'm looking for, I'm just getting impatient to get things in order! Thanks for the responses.

Their website says they aren't currently taking new subscriptions. Do you have a secret in? I want it!

Just wait.
The reason they aren't taking subscriptions at this time is that people signing up would first have to learn V1, then re-learn the whole thing when V2 comes out. It will be much easier for you to just sign up for V2 when it's available... sit tight. It won't be long.

LaCour has done a fantastic job with ShootQ, and I also have nothing but good things to say about them, and their software. I'm sure v2 will be more than worth waiting for!
