I am having my new website designed and it will be ready to go live in about a week. I have lisacarpenterphotography.com hosted with Bludomain and my new shorter domain name is lisacarpenterphoto.com and that is with BlueHost. My new site will be under the shorter domain names and I am wondering, how do I get my old domain name to forward to my new site? I don't want to have clients go to my old site and wonder why it isn't updated. Any thoughts???

My suggestion would be to request a transfer so you have control over the original name. Contact bludomain and tell them that you want to transfer your longer name to bluehost. If they manage the name (registrar) then they can give you a set of numbers (epp code) that will allow the transfer. Then follow the instructions on the bluehost site for transfer. Once it has been approved you then tweak the settings in the bluehost control panel to make it a "parked domain"

If you want to keep it simple you can just request that the current registrar (bludomain) park the domain. (direct to another name) but if you want to keep the other name it is better in the long run to transfer.
