I need to purchase some slide show software for my iMac. I just started offering slide show DVDs to my clients. I'm thinking about buying FotoMagico. Does anyone have any other suggestions for other software? Please help!

Thanks!

What about using the iphoto software that comes with the mac? Unless you need to do something fancy, iphoto works great and it doesn't cost you anything.

Can that software make DVD's that are playable on DVD players? I always thought that software was just for making slideshows for the web.

I do want something more fancy than iPhoto.

Thanks,

Yes, there is a purchase button set up so when your client clicks on it, it brings them to the Show It website where they can purchase the DVD. A lot of custom features that you can set up, like price, dvd face and so on!

FotoMagico is a good transition from iDVD to a more professional looking presentation.

I like to use FM and Toast for burning. Doing that (with a small add-on to toast) lets me burn HD quaility on regular disk.

It's simple, easy to use, and after you get the process down, it's less than 10 minutes to get a slide show made. Kick back and read OSP while the show Exports and then burn it!

Email me troy at troyphoto.com and I can give you a link to more info with tutorials to purchase.

Why would anyone pay for slide show software and then not be able to make their own DVDs without paying out more money? That does not make any sense to me.

For the cost of outsourcing it. If you want to burn your own DVD and make the insert for the case and print the face of the DVD and buy the elegant DVD case to put it in and ship it on your own.... than definitely fotomagico is for you!

Doing it on your own seems like a lot cheaper option and it does not take that long to burn a DVD and print on the face. I guess I should find out the cost of a DVD from Show-It before I jump to conclusions. smile.gif

Thanks!

Matt,

It's also super-fast to create the show with Showit. They really did a good job with the interface.

Seriously, less than 10 minutes to have a show online, and zero time filling DVD orders.

Is it cheaper to do it yourself? Yes. Is it worth it? Not to me - I'd rather be shooting, spending time with my family, or hundreds of other things.

Just my 2 cents. It's not all about costs!

I also use and love FotoMagico. Since I create an online slideshow for every client, I already have the images so I just drop them into FM, add some music and I'm done. No more than 5 minutes.

How much does a DVD cost through Show-It? I can't seem to find that info anywhere on the website.

That would make sense, and I'm thankful that you can't, being as we don't all want our customers having access to that information. Sign up for a Showit-DVD account and you'll be able to see pricing information.

Showit-Web is incredibly useful and well worth it. You can have slideshows online in a matter of minutes and I personally send them to clients as a "teaser" while I finish up their online galleries. People LOVE this... they send them to their friends, they can embed the slideshow on their facebook page using the showit-web facebook application.... it's basically free publicity for you and a way for your clients to show everyone their kickass images! That in itself is worth the small price you pay for the software, and the DVD fulfillment option is SO nice, yet I have not used it since I don't really feel like offering DVDs yet...
