I talked to a friend in Louisiana a few months ago who said she was in her slow season.... but at the time I was absolutely swamped!! Although I am still booked solid for the next 2-3 months.. I do see a break in it all around Jan and Feb.

At what time of the year so you start to slow down, if any?

Do you want a break? As long as I am shooting what I love to shoot then I really don't feel the need. Now put a bunch of family reunions and business headshot assignments in front of me and I'll be ready for a break for a long time...

What do you mean by a break? Less sessions through the week...no weddings on the weekends?

I get more time in January and February because there are not as many weddings during that time of the year, but that is spent booking weddings, updating my website (possible overhaul), getting loose ends picked up, etc. albums finished.

I wish I wasn't having a break...lol

I just started though. Trying to get ramped up and hopefully book for next year.

me too!

I am in Phoenix so our busy season for weddings (or anything for that matter) is just starting. We are finally starting to cool down from a HOT summer. We will go gang busters all through April and then the shooting lull begins with the onset of the heat. You really have to plan for just an 8 month shooting season out here.

I'm not saying I WANT a break... I was just curious at what time of the year other people started to slow down.. with people booking sessions, weddings, etc. Because I had realized that a friend of mine was just the opposite at that point in the year, than I was.

I probably stand alone here, but I have a busy (for me) fall ahead so I'm not taking any sessions in December. So that's kind of my break, but really, with as nuts as December is already, I'm sure it won't really feel like a break.

This month (Sept) has been my slowest, photography wise, since I ever started my biz. Heh. But my Oct is SUPER insanely packed and I have a feeling Nov will be as well. So I'm happy for my "break" because I do have my other job and my 15 hrs of schoolwork to contend with..

Slow periods are going to be dependent on geography and market. I've lived and shot all over the US and it really does depend on both the type of jobs you pursue and climate changes.

But for me, running a photography biz and a design biz keeps me crazy all year round! smile.gif
