I just got back from my morning session in Balboa Park.
Baby Michael is about 6 months old, and his dad is a Navy Seal on team 3.
Dad was on a rooftop in Iraq in 2006 with 2 of his fellow seals when an insurgant threw a hand granade up onto the roof. Michael Monsoor was the closest to the exit route and could have gotten out. Instead, he threw himself onto the granade just as it detonated, saving his two friends by sacrificing his own life.
Baby Michael this morning, is the son of one of the surviving Seals from the rooftop that day.
Have you figured out where he got his name?
HERE's Michael Monsoor's site.

The dad this morning told me that the three of them were really close friends, and they talked often about their families. Michael was not married and had no children. The other two guys are convinced that was on his mind when he did what he did. He was saving those husbands' wives and children from living without husbands & fathers.
100% hero.
They're not just in the movies.

I read his bio, he also saved the Iraqi solders that were up there to. It said that he was the only one that would have been able to make it out alive, instead he sacrificed for all of them.
I would like to think that if I were in the same situation as Michael, I would have enough bravery to do the same thing. He truly was a hero.

Sad story

Gonna hug the kids extra big tonight. His bio said that he had earned the Silver Star as well as the Bronze Star prior to earning the CMH. Michael is a true hero. Thanks for sharing.

Wow... What an amazing story. I wonder if Michael M.'s parents are aware that they named their baby in honor of their son. I'm sure they would be proud.

That's why our soldiers are the best. <3
On kind of a thread jack...if you'd like to help out our soldiers by sending them letters and/or care packages...there's this neat thing I signed up for a few days ago called Adopt a US Solider. You get the name and contact info of a deployed soldier and send them stuff.

It's really neat and I've already gotten my soldier.
