Into which program do you upload and sort and view your photos? Is lightroom best for this and if not, what is?

i use
photo mechanic to view, sort, and rate my photos. i love it because it generates previews of the images really fast, even for RAW. after i've done my first round picks, then i'll import them into lightroom and do my edits, etc.

I haven't tried Lightroom yet. Until then, I rate all my photos in Bridge and bring the images I want to edit into Photoshop.

you will save a buttload of time (and spare your sanity) using lightroom. It's so worth the $300 (or $100 if youre a student or know someone who is)

Some of Meeks' posts are ... hyperbole?

But this isn't - I agree 1000% that Lightroom is the BEST to do work with. By ... far.

Haha thanks Matt... at least you understand not to take many things that I say literally....
But yeah, I'm serious. Anyone who actually takes the time to adopt LR into their workflow will benefit greatly from the change. It's the best software purchase I've ever made... ever.

I got the trial copy of LR. I'm not sure how it's that much different from Bridge/ACR.

I'm not sure why so many people don't understand this. LR is an incredibly powerful tool and I'd suggest watching a tutorial like
Kevin Swan's Intro To Lightroom to get a glimpse into the organizational and processing power that is available to you.

I normally shoot family portraits and on average I deliver about 60 images from a session to a client. I usually rate photos from a session in Bridge, then use ACR to tweak some settings like exposure. After that, I bring them into Photoshop to apply any filters, such as Totally Rad Actions, and then sharpen my photos.
I can see how Lightroom could be useful in editing a large job such as a wedding. But for those of you who use Lightroom, when do you sharpen your files or apply special filters or actions?
