Hey gang, I wasnt' sure where to post this, but basically I'm South of Houston, Texas covering Hurricane Ike as it rolls into my neighborhood. I've spent the last few days shooting people evacuating, getting gas, or not leaving as the case may be. Earlier today a guy, who didn't want to leave before changed his mind and had to try and kayak his way out of our little seaside community. Anyway, please send thoughts and prayers this direction for those people caught in the storm.

OMG! My best friend lives in Houston and I am following her blog and emails, she left early this morning. I hope she got far enough north.

Dan, isn't that all flooding before the hurricane even reaches land? Is that all storm surge in advance of the real storm? That's a SCARY thought

My best friend lives in Houston too and I just talked to her this morning....she left last night and now her and her little doggie are waiting it out in San Antonio. I hope everyone will be ok---storms are not something to underestimate.

Yeah, that is nothing but storm surge coming in. The Hurricane isn't expected to land for another 6 or 7 hours from now and I shot those picture about 11 am today. Those litttle island homes are going to disappear.

This must be the guy they mentioned in the local paper....said he was in a red jacket trying to maneuver a kayak. All I could think was "They need Dan's picture!" Hope you are doing okay now.

Anybody hear anything from Dan? Just hope he's okay.

Hey guys, I'm fine, but exausted. Thanks for all the comment's/prayers etc... I've been doing hurricane aftermath stuff so much, and I've also been without power since Saturday. Almost everyone else has power in my city. I must have pissed someone off!!

I'll post some images in the next few days and you guys can see the devastation. Thanks again!

i really hope that houston gets back everything they gave after katrina and more.

houston was the city that opened up its arms to thousands of katrina survivors and really really gave all that they could, and then some - and now houston and galveston are in desperate need themselves.
