The Wedding Editors
Hello Everyone!
We are so thrilled to finally get onto the awesome OSP! After working with many photographers in the Santa Barbara area, we have listened to their screaming advice and are posting today. Hooray! We can't wait to meet everyone on this incredible networking forum. Thanks DJ!

We've signed up because we love hearing what other photographers are doing and experiencing in the life of entrepreneurship. We can't wait to brainstorm with peers and seek advice or answers we would not know where to find. We're also hoping that this will help us stay more up to date with industry flux and shifts. Thanks again DJ!

So, here's a little about us and what we do ...

We are Kristen Grinnell and Cherry Thomas and we are The Wedding Editors. We are both photographers and have individual small wedding photography businesses, but together we started a post production business in May of this year. The Wedding Editors business is dedicated to editing, retouching, and album design for photograpehrs worldwide, but we are starting out here in our hometown of Santa Barbara, CA. We are super excited about helping out other photographers, our peers and business models we admire. We are serious about photography and we felt what better way to give back to our community than to provide our natural gift of loving to sit in front of the computer for hours, just looking at pictures.

Here's our little plug ...
rolleyes.gif

We'll make life easy for you!

the Situation:
You are a professional photographer who does not love editing! You don't want to be stuck in front of the computer -- you want to be focusing on other parts of your business. We are professional photographers who do love editing! We are focused on editing, retouching, slideshows, uploading and album design. That is our business!

the Solution:
Let us do your post-production work! We love to see your raw image unfold into how you envisioned it. We want to share our creativity, our sharp eyes, and our technical knowledge to benefit your photography business. Try us out for FREE! Give us a sample of images and we'll show you what we do!

We're looking forward to simplifying your world!
Please contact us for further questions or concerns.

Ackkkkkkk not another one!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

This whole editing "thing" is beyond the whole album "thing" now - there are more editors than album companies probably for the first time in history!`

Ya know, many people on OSP own businesses that cater to photographers. That's all fine and dandy. But it really bothers me when someone joins up for the sole purpose of promoting their business.

If you plan to be a part of discussions here, please forgive my candidness. But it really bothers me when people only talk about their business. So if your own here to be a part of the forum, and not just to promote "The Wedding Editors" that's great. But by the looks of your first post. That isn't the case.

+1 with Jason... it would be nice to get to know some people by having conversation first before the business pitch. If you really do want to stay and participate then welcome.

Well you have to get the word out somehow and your introduction was ok with me. OSP members will quickly find out if something is a good or bad value etc. A quick note on your site It is "La Vie" albums not Le Vie, and they do not allow any input on album design other than selecting the images and specifying a few to be larger than the others. There could be a submission charge after editing but certainly not a design fee. Good luck

The Wedding Editor's what?

(What's the apostrophe for?)

Cute logo. But kern the E and the d so they're closer. Welcome.

I was wondering the same thing... Maybe it's a surname. We've had this discussion before somewhere.... do surnames get apostrophes?

....from the Schumacher's....
or
... from the Schumachers ...

Or, Jules is on the right track... it's possessive...
but what do they possess?

I love a good bunnytrail!

I think it might just be a star... ?

Oh yeah, you're right. It's badly placed then, in my opinion, cuz it looks like an apostrophe.
The Wedding Editors
Hi girls,
These are funny questions. It's not an apostrophe, it's a star and it's part of the font. We just loved it right away, it reminded of us Bewitched, kind of like us doing magic on your photos. smile.gif

It depends. If it's painted on a house, it's possessive, and has an apostrophe. As in "The Schumacher's [house]." Also, if you're "going over to the Schumacher's [house] for dinner."

If it's plural, it doesn't have an apostrophe. As in "From [all of] the Schumachers."

Or, if you want to be really weird, put it after the "s" -- you're "going over to [all of] the Schumachers' [house] for dinner.

But I'm just a photographer -- what do I know. thumbsup.gif

Hi Steve,
You are right and I've been meaning to take out those albums. We found out the hard way with La Vie and Graphi. Thanks for your insight. smile.gif

Hey Jason,
Nice to meet you! I knew by posting about our business was risky. We're both photographers too and understand your point. That "plug" part was really about who we are and what we do. I tried to answer like I was introducing myself to someone I'd meet face to face. I mentioned in the very first paragraphs of our hello was our intent as why we're on here. That's great if we get business from OSP, but the ONLY reason we signed up was to network and learn more and more from other artists like us.
Hope to learn more from you always,
Kristen smile.gif

Just because it's part of the font doesn't mean you can't change it. Editors can do that, especially if they're Photoshop experts. I would move that one star, and fix the kerning. But what do I know; I'm just a photographer.

Hmmm, that is an idea. It does kind of look like an apostrophe now that I look at it. I guess staring at something for so long, it's hard to see it differently. Thanks for the feedback.

Hardly! Gotta stick up for you Jules!

If there are two of you and you're interested in participating on the forum as something other than your business perhaps you can sign on separately and avoid the perception that you're only joining to pimp your services.

Just a thought...

Hi! I kinda feel bad everyone is on the attack with these guys. I agree not cool to sign up to a forum just to promote yourselves but I guess I just feel like one person mentioning that would have been enough. Maybe I am too nice??? Don't attack me for saying that.

Hi Lori,
That's actually a good idea! Then we can "pimp our business" twice as fast. Just kidding, but seriously we're a team and don't feel we're doing any harm in posting or signing onto this forum. We're already OSP members under our own photography business names, which are completely separate from this business. Thanks for the reply and it's nice to meet you.
