Full Version: JPG Thumbnails Are Tricking Me

I've been working on these jpg's for a while; downloaded, edited, saved and backed up.

The problem is in this particular folder, not anywhere else on my PC.

It seems to have started after I went through and renamed some of the files so they were in chronological order. Although the problem isn't dedicated only to the renamed files. It's happening to the files that I didn't rename too.

If I go to OPEN a file through PS2, using the thumbnail pictures to choose my file, a different picture from that folder opens (and shows up at the bottom of the FILE/OPEN screen in the mini-thumbnail preview), but it has the same file name.

Using the computers preview function via Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (right-click the thumbnail and hit PREVIEW), the file name is the same but the picture is different than what the thumbnail shows.

What the crap?!? blink.gif

Any ideas?

Hey Shannon, how ya doing?

Delete the thumbnail file in the directory. It's a hidden system file, so you'll need to change your folder settings to show hidden and system files to see it. I forget what it's called (I don't use Windows much anymore) but it's something like 'thumbs.db' or something... That will force it to rebuild the thumbnails from the actual images.

Hope that helps,

~Bill

Awe, Bill, I wub.gif you! Well, I wub.gif'd you BEFORE this solution, but now it's even MORE!

Strange thing with showing the hidden file, it hasn't shown up (maybe I need to restart for it to take effect). However... I hit "Do not cache thumbnails" just for kicks and that worked! I wouldn't have ever known to try that, if it weren't for you wink.gif

I SERIOUSLY was going to blow a gasket on this one. Especially after calling a handful of photog friends before posting here. Grr.

Luv, Lucky
