Hey all, I recently got Ben's album design templates and when I was working with the program, I noticed the really large images looked really pixelated. I assumed that it was just the "prevew" and that once I exported, they would look fine.
However, when I opened the JPEG in photoshop, the larger images were still pixelated (but to a lesser degree). I then opened the original images up, enlarged them by using the free transform tool and made them the same size as the indesign image. The photoshop images were not pixelated and looked smoother. (see image)
Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of indesign? Any info greatly appreciated!

If I follow correctly, you had an image that was smaller than the spot you wanted to put it in, you enlarged it from within InDesign, and it looked pixelated? Yeah, I wouldn't trust InDesign to enlarge images if that's what you're asking. I'd definitely do my enlarging in Photoshop. I use ID CS2, and if I notice my images look crappy and I want to see how they'll look in my final export, I do:
View -> Display Performance -> High Quality Display
Yours was probably set on "Typical" or "Fast" if you saw a lot of pixelation from within ID and less pixelation in the final exported image.
Hope that helps a bit!

Carson is correct that your display quality is probably set to low. Honestly it's faster to work in InDesign if you keep it on this setting while doing layout and then exporting to PDF when you are finished to make a final check. But if you're ever wondering how an image will look just use the settings she mentioned above to change it.

Hey Carson and Jeff!
Yes! That is exactly what I'm doing. I did have the preview set to "fast" but again, my issue is after I've exported to JPEG and still getting a pixelated image. I just tried redoing the spread with the enlarged imaged from photoshop..looks a bit better but still not as "perfect" and smooth as the photoshop version! *sigh*
Thanks for your responses though!
