Hello folks-

I just wanted to say hello and how excited I am to finally start posting on Open Source.

A little about myself:
I shoot a lot of editorial, corporate, advertising and select wedding work.

I love good BBQ and sweet tea.

I've lived in Seattle (Redmond, actually), Manhattan and a few other places in between working for a behemoth of a photo corporation, interning for newspapers and a large news website.

I'm happily married; have two fat cats.

Soon to turn 30 years old.

My editorial/ad site is http://www.DaveCone.com

My wedding site is http://www.AveOneStudios.com

Whew ... that'll do for now. :)

See you around!

Thank you about the logo.

We had it done by an ad agency. The squirly gigs are modified from a French press back in the 1600's. We have a horizontal variation as well.

Thanks for commenting!

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

I've had a few questions asked about some of the images on my sites, so I'll just post here really quickly (even though I don't think this is really the appropriate thread):

I use Profoto lights mainly with beauty dishes and octabanks.

The shot of the couple on the front of our wedding site (http://www.AveOneStudios.com) was shot just before dusk with the white balance set to tungsten (to make the sky a deeper blue); metered for the sky and then matched that f/stop with our light. We used a Profoto 7B pack with a beauty dish. The light was warmed up with gels so the couple wouldn't look blue b/c of the white balance setting.

On my editorial/ad site (http://www.DaveCone.com), in the Faces section, the two portraits of the blindfolded people were shot on a 4x5 camera and then the negative was placed through a special water treatment and scanned. There was no Photoshop involved -- except for spot/scratch removal, a tiny bit of sharpening and some burning.

Again, thank you all so much for the warm welcome. This place seems like a great forum to be involved.

Best,

-Dave
