I'm sorry if there are already 100 old posts on this topic (but I can't find them with OSP's search - grr) but I'm looking for some recommendations on a heavy-duty camera bag ...

I'm to the point now where my little Canon carry-on isn't cutting it, especially with the soon-to-be purchase of a telephoto lens, and just wondered what are some popular options/brands for the kind of bag you're hauling your gear in from wedding to reception (and for some of you, thru the airport).

I'd like to keep it under $200, please!!!

(which means, as awesome as this guy looks, he's out of my price range for now)

Think Tank is having a sale on one of their bags. Check it out it's only $120. I had this one, but took it back. The straps just annoyed me to death. Hope this helps. smile.gif

man, i love my crumpler daily. in xxl. it holds 2 bodies, 6 lenses, laptop, cards, phones, everything! plus the inside compartments slipout and you can use it as a weekend bag. its waterproof and rip proof, well, you know crumplers, they are pretty much indestructable.

I don't think that one is available in the U.S. I have a Crumpler bucket that goes inside The Complete Seed. Crumpler does make cool bags.

Oooo w00t.gif I'm interested to see what everyone recommends because Nate was just saying the other day that he wants to get a big camera bag. (We have lens bags for shooting but need something to carry everything to and from weddings)

Pelican makes some awesome cases. I have the 1620 (I think) and it has wheels. It is a hard plastic case and it is rather heavy, but I can bring about anything I might need to a wedding.

LOVE our Boda Bag. They are higher than what you're looking to spend but I love what they let me carry and how easy they are to carry around with me during the .

I actually just got a small leather jill-e bag. I am kind of regretting it. It is bulky and heavy (more than what I expected for a 'small') bag. Anyone have their small canvas bag? I wonder if those are lighter.

The pelican cases are great - the 1510 is a carry-on size and the 1620 (what I have) is awesome if you don't mind checking it as luggage (too big to carry on) but you have to get the velcro dividers (trust me) and that will put the 1620 out of your price range, not sure about the price of the 1510 with dividers.

If the plane crashed in a big fire ball into the ocean, the stuff in the pelican case would be fine. There that kind of tough.

Also check out the Lowe-Pro backpacks, I use a large Lowe-Pro for a carry-on, I was using the fully waterproof one, but it's not as big inside as the one I use now (sorry don't have model names in front of me). If anyone is interested in the big fully waterproof one, I would sell mine... not using it at all. Awesome bag though.

Hope that helps smile.gif

I just bought The Milano M-700 by Naneu Pro. It fits my laptop too, i thought about a pelican but, wanted to keep it sort of light. It also has a shoulder strap, although I don't think i will ever use it.

The 1510 with dividers and a top organizer is still just under $200 and I'm seriously thinking of it as I know how tough those cases are. I wanted the Think Tank Airport Int'l but it's super expensive and I want something with a bit more protection as I tend to be pretty hard on my stuff and I know no matter how I try, I couldn't hurt the pelican case

I use a Think Tank Airport International. I love it!!! It's solid, rolls smoothly, looks professional (more so than the Lowpro backpack I was using, lol) and I love that it fits all of my gear. 2 bodies, a 24-70, a 70-200, (both with hoods) my fisheye, 100mm macro, my 50mm, 2 PW's, 2 550's, spare camera batteries and AA's, my CF cards, flash diffusers +. When I get home I just roll that baby into my office and stand it up. No more searching all over for my stuff because it didn't all fit in my backpack!

I have a pelican, it's slightly heavy for me and the clip to latch it shut broke... so that was really disappointing.

Lifetime warranty - they'll fix or replace it. I'd be curious how the warranty service is, since I've never heard of a broken one before. Please let us know!

I was checking the website and this one seems to be big. Is it possible to have it as carry on if you travel?
This is our main concern as we work as destination photographers.
Thanks
Lisa W
It says it meets international carry on requirements. I haven't flown with it so I can't give you any firsthand experience, sorry.

+1 on the pelican 1510. Great carryon bag and super tough. I stand on it when I need an extra boost to shoot tall people. smile.gif
