I some cases I don't want to create a new file. Is it possible to apply the effect to the origial file?

Could you elaborate some more on what you are trying to do?

Showit creats a new file in your specified location...correct? Is it possible to apply the effect to a file and save it without creating a new file?

Am I worng here? It seems to be that "effects" always creats a new file and does not save to or change the original file. Anyway around this?
