Well, just got my finao sample, and it looks great overall, except for one glaring issue. It appears that some of the creases are discolored. I've attached a photo to show you what I mean. It's a black and white photo, but if you notice the crease, it looks to be a pinkish hue, and that's present in some other spreads too. I chose the WHCC printing option.

From the responses below it seems like this is a natural occurance with creased print albums, so I edited this post to be less critical regarding the manufacturer, since the build of the album itself is impeccable. I ordered the black pearl brocade and the square spine, so it has that high end book feel I was hoping for.

I'll post some more photos later!

Isn't the pink stripe a Kodak paper thing? Maybe someone else can chime in, but it might not be right unless you get the prints from somewhere else.

I've only ordered matted albums from them so far.

Over time, that happens to most albums with creased photographic paper. It's the paper, not much you can do about it. I had a discussion with Kevin Swan about it once - hopefully he'll give some input because I don't remember everything he said. FYI though, all my Graphi books on creased photo paper have done that. That's why I won't use it anymore.

ah i see, i can't believe i had never read that that was an issue lol

if that's the case, then i'll definitely order an album with cut prints

i just checked my graphi demo album they sent, and i do indeed notice some of the same discoloration. I guess I had never inspected it that closely since it wasn't my work.

thanks for the quick replies btw smile.gif

I might be incorrect, but I thought last time I logged on to Finao, they recommended in their instructions printing with ProDPI or other lab options, but not WHCC, if you were ordering a creased book and WHCC for the cut page option since WHCC uses Kodak paper whereas ProDPI uses Fuji. Maybe they have added that info since the time you ordered. Anyway, I can't wait to see more pictures. Glad to hear you were pleased with the other aspects of the album.
