Full Version: Problem: inconsistent images in AP and Manual

Actually this used to happen on my old D70 too, until I replaced the shutter (but I didn't replace the shutter because it was doing this, I replaced it because it was hitting its time).

ANYWAY! Just recently one of my cameras, a Nikon D200, went into a funk. When I shoot in AP, the images are SO inconsistant. One is crazy blown out, one is under exposed and then sometimes it'll get it right. But wait! When I shoot on Manual... it changes the shutter speed and exposure comp. all by itself!

For example, I took three shots in a row on Manual: I put my settings to f/2.8, 1/1000 and 0.0 exposure comp.

First image I took reads: f/2.8/, 1/1000, + 2.0
Second: f/2.8, 1/2000, + 1.0
Third: f/2.8, 1/4000, 0.0

What the? Please tell me I just slipped on some absurd setting.

OMG. I'm laughing with you, not at you.

Last night I had the same exact problem on my D3. When I figured it out I felt like throwing it into the ocean and giving up my 'photographer' badge.

All I'll say is: Check your 'bracketing' settings.
