I am using my Qflash for the first time next week. I have used my SB800's off camera many other times but there were many times they just were not powerful enough. Anyone have any good tips? Should I use in umbrella or straight on with diffuser over bulb? I thought I could create some cool effects with it. We will be shooting at 10am and I am afraid we will be getting into super bright light. I learned some cool things in the One Light workshop, but I have forgotten some things. I am going to use it on Manual.

Any thoughts?

thanks!!! Zack, where are you???

I use it in manual 99% of the time, I would also use a light meter to get all of your readings. Inside of dark churches with LARGE groups I usually get it as high as I can and just over one of my shoulders. I've tried a bit of an angle, but with large groups I would always fine that someone would have a bad shadow. That's my 2 cents. I've used it outside in shady spots and have been pretty pleased with the results. thumbsup.gif Oh, I would recommend a shoot through umbrella, makes the light source nice and big and really softens up the shadows... which is hard to do on larger groups.
