On August 1st I'm opening the doors to the new studio here in Tallahassee! I'm starting to place an order for the prints to go on display but before I do that I would love some feedback.

I already have quite a few printed so I'm looking to fill in the holes. let me know which ones you hate, love and are just ok with. You know how after a while our own images become a blur.... any feedback is appreciated.

Also, I didn't know where to place this topic. I hope "wedding pics" is ok. unsure.gif

My favorites:
Details - #2 (I like the slightly abstract quality that the shadows lend)
Bridals - #3, 5, 6 (my favorite!)
Bride & Groom - #4, 5, 7, 8
Ceremony, Party etc. - #2 (wow. love it), 4

Honestly, all of them are good! These are just the ones that I am most attracted to. smile.gif

Whenever choosing images to display in your Studio, you should be very particular about what you hang. Your albums will have an overall representation of you so there is no need to plaster your walls with the same and multiple images. In our Studio, we have three huge prints, but they are our best shoots in 10 years. We replace them only if we get another image that blows them away.

In Grad school in my portfolio development class my prof said " Make sure every image you show someone slaps them right across the face. That they are so taken aback by the photograph, it leaves them speechless."

Out of the images you posted, in my opinion, I thought there were some good shots, but none of them really hit me hard. If I had to choose I would say that I liked the BW window shot of the bride and the solo dress shot was unique for me.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, take it or leave it. I think you have a great eye, I just want to see a little more intensity.

Good luck with opening your space, its a big step;)

Thanks for the feedback. That's exactly what I was looking for - the good and the bad. smile.gif

The studio is very large! 5500 square feet overall (including a full size basement). It is currently owned by susan stripling. when she decided to move to NY she contacted me and asked if I would be interested in renting her space. It's truly an amazing studio which I can't take credit for! the front room is where I will display the prints. She built in a shelf for the prints so that you don't have to hang them - and they look cooler sitting on the shelf in my opinion. In order to utilize the shelf and front space I will need to print quite a few images.

Congrats! But I would say the same thing applies. Be very choosy about what you display, that will be the first thing your clients lay eyes on when they walk into your space and the last thing they see when they leave.

Another piece of advice, we also hang other art that is not our own. painters we are inspired by, photographers that paved the way etcetc. I think it is nice to not only show your work but also show that you are a seasoned artists, with many layers, plus it is a great conversation starter!

Is "all of them" an option? Haha. From Bride and groom, 1 and 8 REALLY stood out to me. GORGEOUS!!!!

Overall, these are great photos! I think Nicole is right on about how to choose what you hang.

My picks:
Details--4
Bride--5
B&G--4,7
Other--Possibly #2--4 would definitely trump it, but there's just something a little odd about the girls expression...

Hope that helps!

Details - #4
Bride - love, love #5
B&G - #6
Other - #2, #4

Good luck on your opening!

Wow, there are so many beautiful photos there! Here is my pick:

Bridal Portraits: Number 5 - Amazing!!!

Ceremony Shots: Numbers 2 & 4

Bride & Groom: Numbers 2, 5 & 10.

Hope it goes well for you.
MaryBeth
You all are the best! Thank you so much.

I'm really excited about this studio and can't wait to get it up and running. Again, I can't take credit for it's amazingness because susan is completely responsible! I'm just so honored to be able to move in!

I'm going to take everyone's recommendations and add the favorites to what I already have printed. It's crazy how attached we get to images and how easily we look past others. I have to be honest and say that my favorites seem to be no one else's favorites. That's the way it goes I guess.

Thanks again!!!

Details: 4
Bridal: 5
