A few weeks ago I took these portraits, and it was my first paying job so I'd really like to get opinions on them....
Tara (the client) really loved them so of course I'm satisfied that I've satisfied the customer but definitely would like some insight from professionals.

I like your pp on these. The colors look good, very natural.

The first one is prolly my favorite; however, her right shoulder bothers me. The angle/crop makes it look odd.

The protruding bra strap in the second one popped out at me...I hate seeing them in photos. But, the image is sweet. smile.gif

The third image looks too soft. The only thing that looks like it might be in focus is the left side of mom's face. It appears to be due to an aperture that was too wide. Also, mom is cropped a little too high up for my taste. I usually try to avoid cutting anyone off at the neck. Sometimes, it might work, but in this case, it doesn't work for me.

There's that dern bra strap again in the the last image! Also, this is not a very flattering position for mom.... bending over like that.

In spite of my little criticisms, I think you did a pretty good job. And if your clients are pleased, then that's great! Just learn to look for those bra straps and tuck 'em in! smile.gif

What a beautiful mom and daughter! I can see why she is pleased with them. #3 is my favorite. I like the angle at which it was shot, but I do think a slightly less tight crop might be nice on that image if you have it in the original file. The nice even light and clarity in your images is really nice too.

In #1, I wish I could see more of her body, just because the angle/position of her arms struck me as a little odd at first. If she has her hands on her hips, it would be really cute to see that with her facial expression in that image. The other things that caught my eye are the hair in the girl's clip and the mom's bra strap. I know those are nit-picky, but in my experience, I have found clients once they see the images will ask you "why didn't you tell me....my bra strap is showing, my necklace is turned around, I have a stray hair, etc. I'll be honest, I struggle with pointing out things that you think might "offend" someone, after all, I figure they must look in the mirror before they leave the house, but I honestly do think they expect us to point out things like that, otherwise, you may find clients who "love" the images overall but those little things make them not like or order an image.

Great job for your first paying job! Wow!

Oh as definitely irked at the bra strap after I started editing...definitely something I'll have to pay closer attention to in the future. I was a little nervous to get good angles for this particular portrait session because the client did say she was a bit aprehensive about her size and how it would reflect on camera, but thankfully she liked all the pictures smile.gif I definitely appreciate your opinions, and thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts!
