Hey everybody,

I also have a new blog courtesy of Prophoto and feedback would be awesome:

Casey Karbowski Photographer | Seattle Area Wedding Photography

Thanks so much to Jared for the theme. Any thoughts would be great...

Casey, it looks good. Two suggestions though:

1. In your bio it says "I strive to constantly take most the artistic, photojournalistic and emotion-filled pictures I can." I think you want to swap most and the.

2. I believe that it is a good idea for security purposes to create a new user for your blog so you can delete the "admin" user. If you are using the "admin" user (which has full rights, etc. to EVERYTHING about your blog), then a person of ill intent only has to figure out your password as you have already given them the user name. Plus it would also look nicer (to me, anyway) if the posts are written by Casey, not admin. I think security is the bigger issue though.

Good luck!

Thanks, those are both good pieces of information. I'm off to correct that mistake...

Anyone else?

According to Google Analytics, 47 people have visited my site from open source photo so far from open source, yet only one response to this thread...hmmm...Oh well, at least Im getting some traffic.

stop stalking your stats & whining about people not responding.
in the future, just put a "bump" post and you'll probably get better response.

Barefoot-

I have to say I found your post both completely uncalled for and entirely unhelpful. I wonder why my review of my satistics, where I happened to note how many people had come from Open Source, counts as 'stalking' (that information happens to display on the first page of Google analytics). For all you know, I might have checked that page once in the last year.

Furthermore, I wonder what makes you think you are able to access my own internal attitudes about the lack of posts, an attitude you refer to as 'whining'. I did note the high ratio of visitors to respondents to this thread, but that indicates nothing about what I think about that. In fact, I would prefer having more visitors to having more respondents here, and in fact I have no strong feelings about whether people choose to respond.

Internet message boards are difficult places. Please exercise caution before jumping to harsh, unwarranted conclusions.

I personally didn't find Carrie's advice harsh or unwarranted because your follow-up post did come across as whining. You have all of 7 posts on OSP and it seems that you're whining that a higher ratio of people have viewed your post and your blog than have responded. If you do just a little research, you'll find that there've been some threads lately about the annoyance factor of new folks who post seeking feedback, aren't contributing much to the forum otherwise and then hop back on their post wondering why they're not getting much feedback. Overall, you'll find that folks here won't say much if they don't have something nice to say. The blog design is fine, but I think the majority of the photos are out of focus and not in an artistically executed DOF way.

grow up. not everyone has time to stop what they are doing and critique your blog. and your post about your stats was ridiculous - and childish.

so what if they looked and didnt post anything. many here have the attention span of a fruit fly blink.gif

ever hear the story about honey, flies, and vinegar?

+1

You got my attention, so I looked at your blog. Overall, it's a blog. Nothing that makes me say wow, but with that said, it's better than mine. smile.gif

As for the photography. Dude, you need to work on focusing, or stop shooting wide open at far distances. On some of your photos I could find your focus points, but there are a couple where they are just blurry, and as Lori said, not for any artistic reason, at least not one that I could see.

Hi, Casey,

I heart my ProPhoto blog. Your blog looks really nice, too! I get that you like black and white and a clean look. It may make for a boring looking blog, though. There isn't a wow factor. I am sure a client would be very impressed. Us photographer types spend way too much time looking at each other's blogs.

Please don't be discouraged by the other people posting to this thread. All forums have a lot of people that just stalk and don't comment - hence all your looks and no comments. I am guilty of this myself a lot and often just glance at something. It took months before I posted anything and there is another forum where the photographers really go off on each other that I only read. We all start somewhere. Keep posting!!!

Casey, if you're looking to excite OSPers about your blog maybe you shouldn't title your post, "Yet another thread..."

If you seem bored with it, so will we. See?
