I think I got it figured out...but what do you think? Should I change the font? Colors? Ditch the talking bubble?

what is your market? weddings? Children?
This is cute, but is cute what you are selling? I know you said you liked the retro look, but retro makes me think about simple, clean design.
This looks more like a comic book. I'd say ditch it. I'm sorry if i come across as hard, but I don't like it. And I wouldn't pick up a business card with this logo on it. That said, I have zero children and those kinds of graphics do not appeal to me. I'd say this look would work if you are only shooting children's portraits.... HS seniors, parents, and brides aren't going to be drawn to this design.

I shoot kind of everything...but mainly weddings right now. Thank you for your honest input though! I just really like the retro bird look. I'm not not sure how to work around it.

Hi,
I'm in the same boat with finding a new logo too. A logo really does say a lot about who you are and your personality and hopefully will help draw the kind of clients who are similar to you, and like your style, to your site.
I think the logo is really cute... though I think the color of the bird's wing is a little generic. I think you can make it work...
I imagined what your images would look like based on your logo and then went to your website, and found that your images are more elegant and beautiful than I had expected. I expected lots of quirky bright colors and fun retro images based on your logo. It was a contradiction to me.
I personally really like the tree logo you have on your page now. I think you should change the shade of the purple, maybe add a silhouette of a little black bird on one of the limbs, and go with it.
Good luck. It's ultimately your own business and you're the boss, so try it out and see if it works for you!

Oh I know how hard it is to pinpoint the perfect logo....OMG I'm going through this right now.
Personally, I agree that I really don't think this logo goes with your wedding photography. Now, if you were trying to brand your childrens portrait photography separately, than I would say go for it. I think it goes with children's photography specifically but really doesn't fit the rest of your style. Maybe go for a B&W logo with a retro bird? Maybe that would seem less whimsical to fit the wedding photography?
Logos and branding are such a long, hard process. Oy.

I think it's cute, and I like the bubble for future possibilites with alternate text... for example, you could have the bird "talking" about a special on your blog, etc.
I do think the red/orange color of the text looks bad with the pink bubble. Try adjusting the colors - perhaps even the colors of everything. You might get more of a wedding-y look with a blue bird for example. Is this kind of a mock up, or the final illuatration? I would reccomend making the branch thinner - it draws my eye in a bad way.
Does remind me of Drinky Crow quite a bit though, something to consider...

I think I'm going to try a new route with the logo. Maybe hiring someone to do it for me would be better. I'm so bad at this stuff.
I am actually redoing my website right now. So excuse the messy colors and such. I have ALOT of photos to add and delete from it too. I've done so many things this summer. So I need to have some of it added.
I'm kind of toggleing around with colors too. I was told I should go with bright fun colors because of my personality. I would say my favorite color is green and orange.
But the more I look at this logo I really don't like. And it does say more "children" then wedding. Though I have been doing ALOT of childrens photos.

Thanks for not wigging out on me for being direct! LOL But your work is better than that logo. I don't have the greatest logo either, but it'll do for now.... BUT I did really like the bird on the orange thing you posted earlier... .that could SOOO work for you.

Just keep looking...and I do suggest hiring a pro...

I'd definitely say narrow your colors down a bit-this logo has a ton going on. I just designed a bird logo
for this company-not sure if you're interested in something like that, but I might be able to help you.

if you were a childrens photographer, i would say go wtih it, but if your doing weddings as well, i would say no. find a new one. its just too much on the childish side to even consider taking you seriously as a wedding photographer.
too many people try to scrimp in this area and this is the area i feel is one of the most important for your business.
