Full Version: Lexar on a Mac
OpenSourcePhoto > YA wanna FIGHT! > Mac vs. Windows

So I just converted over to a Mac a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know why the stackable Lexar card readers would be slower on a Mac, than a PC. Lightroom, Photoshop are all incredibly faster on the Mac, but the card readers to transfer are much slower. Any thought would be great.

Are they USB or Firewire? I'm not familiar with the ones you're talking about. Do you have a link to the B&H listing or something like that?

They are firewire, here is the link at B&H

Hmm I do recognize those now, and I seem to remember reading somewhere that they act funky with OS X. I use a sandisk UDMA reader with sandisk and lexar UDMA cards and it works flawlessly (not to mention that it's ridiculously fast!!)

Have you tried calling lexar about this?

Can I get a link to that on B&H please? I am in need of SPEED!!!!!!! Thanks.

I don't have any problems with my Lexar 800 reader on the Mac.

Is it possible that something else has changed? Where do you download the cards to (an external drive, the internal main drive) compared to before? Are you just copying from the card to disk or are you trying to import through Lightroom or some other software?

Just some thoughts...

Best card reader I've ever used: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4467...Flash_Card.html

They're out of stock right now at B&H, you may try searching for it on http://www.calumetphoto.com I bought mine in their San Francisco store a few months ago so they should have it available online.
