Madison Ruth Aten

Our daughter was born Wednesday, July 16, 2008. I think these will be favorites of mine for a long time. Yes, I actually did take my camera into the operating room for the cesarean section. We had a wonderful photographer who joined us (for all 24 hours of labor) but she was unable to attend the actual delivery because it was a c-section, so I took my D300 and played the roles of "dad," "supporter," and "historian!"

Wow! What a gift to your wife. These are beautiful.

I have to add, that having a C section is a surreal experience and i continue to look back on mine and I always have so many questions that pop up becuase it's all just so foggy in my memory. As the mother, you see nothing but a blue sheet, so there isn't much connection going on during the surgery. So these are an amazing gift to your wife to help her feel more connected to her birth. (At least that's the way I would feel!)

Thanks for all your kind words! It is a totally amazing experience, and while it seems slightly strange to be taking pictures at the time (while holding my wife's hand!), I'm so glad I did.
