I have a Macbook Pro. It's only a couple of months old. The dang thing's only got 2, yes 2, USB ports on it. Well, I need one for my tablet and one for my external, so I use a hub. Never had a problem until one day a couple of weeks ago when stuff plugged into the hub stopped working.

Went and bought a new hub 'cuz I figured that was the problem. Same thing. Seems stuff randomly stops working. Today I plugged the card reader in several times before it finally let me download the images.

Any suggestions?

If your Hub has a power supply, try it both plugged in and unplugged. Some mac laptops have a powered USB bus which will work with unpowered hubs, some don't and require the hubs to be powered. We see this all the time in the Computer repair shop I work for. Doesn't really explain why it stopped working however. Is there other devices plugged into the hub?

What kind of hub is it? I suggest getting a good, reliable one made by Belkin... I've got two Belkin hubs that are used daily for hours on end and have never had a problem with them.

I've tried 2 different hubs and get the same thing. (One's a Belkin.) I honestly think there's something wrong with that USB port. I asked at the Mac store and they tell me the port should be able to power up to 27 items, but I can barely get 2 to work.

Looks like I need to purchase Apple Care and then bring it in.
