Full Version: Lightroom not letting me certain files

AHHHHHHHH lightroom is driving me CRAZY today! I have a wedding I'm trying to first rename the flagged photos for.

It reaches a certain point then says "The file named "DSC_4608.NEF" could not be renamed" I've tried several times last night, then shut down the computer overnight, came back this morning and it still won't work. sad.gif

One thing I noticed when looking at the metadata (trying to figure out what the problem is) is under sidecar files, the files previous to this have just an .xmp sidecar file, but this file and those after this one, have a .JPF and .xmp sidecar file. When I look in the actual hard drive at the files, I see the NEF, the XMP, but no jpg files (we initally shot on the wedding day with RAW+basic JPG) does this have anything to do with the reason it won't rename? Is there a way to get around this?

I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but I'm there with you! Lightroom is driving me nuts!!! Why can't things just work the way they are supposed to???

Hope you get it worked out. smile.gif

Thanks Ginger!

I've never actually had this problem before. And it's driving me crazy. I need to get this wedding out the door, and I just keep hitting road blocks with it sad.gif

Same here....so frustrating! I'm checking in here often, because I'm having to do small batches at once to get LR to do the work. *sigh* At least it's going now.

Isn't it weird how with some weddings you just keep hitting one problem after another...others- nothing??

I hope one of our technically gifted members posts soon with just what you need.

well see that's the wierd thing, I thought maybe it was just having a hard time doing a large batch (shouldn't be a problem, but I thought I'd give that a try) I tried just the ONE file, and it won't rename it at all! sad.gif We tried just skipping one thinking, awww heck, that one wasn't an important one, but then it had a problem with the next one as well sad.gif

anyone have any ideas? I'm at a loss, and totally at a stand still with this wedding sad.gif

Have you tried looking/asking on the LR user forums? Those guys collectively know an incredible amount about LR.

I think I had a similar issue once with one shoot--LR would actually rename the first image selected, but error on me and not do any of the rest. I gave up, so I know I'm no help (it didn't matter to me at the time). Sorry!

Are you updated? I had this problem when I first started using lightroom a couple times. It was a mess! Then I never had it again. I never did figure out what to do, but maybe you need an update that will fix it.
