Haven't got to post one of these recently and thats just not right. I got bored today and decided to dable around with a self portrait. Its pretty freakin hard stuff to handle hold a camera and shoot when you use the star button to focus. So props to all of yall who do this better and more often than I.

Come on guys and gals I know yall have um.. Put them up!
Alyssa Lang
I can't take self portraits with my regular camera because my hands are too small to fit around the back for focusing. lol So here's one from my iPhone from this weekend after I got my hairs cut smile.gif

btw:don't take this in an awkward way or anything, but you're cute. Just sayin'. lol smile.gif

Wow TM is that new lens hood? Looks good! blink.gif
Rachael Earl
My fave is from college photography...I'll have to dig it up and scan!
Lisette
Hmmmm...I'm going to have to go out and take one smile.gif All I have are with the point & shoot.
Brandi Thompson
I have yet to take a decent self portrait with my good camera. I have like a million with my point and shoots. Haha. I'm a camera whore, what can I say, and if nobody else was present to take pictures of, I'd just take pictures of myself.

Here's one from 2006 that I really liked. Although it makes my nose look large, I think, which is really funny, because compared to the roundess of my head, I have an ity bity nose. tongue.gif Teehee!

But speaking of self portraits.. ugh I am in dire need of a photo of myself for my website. I keep putting it off..
Michelle M
I'll play... this is me.
(i wish i would've had earrings on :/)

Ginger
Michelle ..... GET OUT! You are gorgeous girl!

can I just say that the ladies of OSP are hot without being sexist??? But you're making me sexist... (Flight of the conchords reference).

My wife and I enjoy doing self portraits when we are on vacation. In May, we were at Joshua Tree National Park in California and I grabbed her point and shoot to take a self portrait of her and I. I didn't know she had it zoomed it, so the picture of my wife and I turned out like this:

Don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful.
Shane Snider
Dan, do you play guitar too??? We should jam together. We could offer a special package or something.

Of course, I just know cheesy metal riffs.

Don't mean to be a downer, I just don't have a more recent self-portrait.

Wow... your eyes are amazing!

Since I take self portraits with almost all of my customers, here's a couple of mine:

My wife didn't get the memo that it was crazy face picture. smile.gif
Brandi Thompson
Love all the pictures. Jonathan, has anyone ever told you that you look a bit like Ewan McGregor?
Niall
I just scanned a self portrait of me with my first Kodak Instamatic in 1982 or 83.

Niall, looks like you always wanted to be a photographer, huh?!!

First thing in the morning:

This was just shot at arm's length with a 50mm, f1.4 (I had my hair temporarily straightened and I had no one to photograph it!)

I actually just put this one my blog for our anniversary, but this was a self portrait I took back in college for a self portrait assignment. This was for the- "how I see myself" image. and then we did a, "how others see us" image. I wonder if I can find that one.....

Sofie, I love that series of you! And also the one of your eye if so sharp and completely awesome! There are some really great ones posted!

She's so hot she's making me sexist ... B[****]!

(Shane, I am so glad that there is another Conchords fan around here. It's so great it almost makes me cry ... but not because I'm thinking of you, it's because I was thinking about a friend that you don't know who's dying, that's right DYING!)

These aren't tears of sadness because you're leavin' me, I've just been cuttin' onions. I'm make a lasagna.... (for one).

Kadie - AWESOME!!! Amazing! What else can I say?

Wow guys! Thank you! I had a lot of fun making them. The best way to do it I've found is

1) Use a tripod

2) Put your camera on a timer

3) Possibly use timed interval shooting so it keeps firing off frames so you can get a few variations (if you use the interval shooting you'll need to focus a head of time then switch your camera to Manuel so that it doesn't get confused trying to auto-focus if you have a more complicated composition.)

4) Have broom, coat rack, any sort of object to set in your photo where you want to stand so you can focus on it and then have it mark where you need to go.

5) Have a helper to either push the button after you get everything set up or move things for you once you get in place.

6) Have fun and be creative, self portrait doesn't always mean a photo of you face, you can take a series of photos of objects that you think represent you and that's a self portrait as well.

Thanks all, there are some awesome photos being posted, Sofie I LOVE you series!
Brandi Thompson
Kadie that definitely makes me want to do something like that. I did some angsty non-face type portraits before.. a couple years back.. They were okay.. But I should just go out sometime and do some.
