Full Version: How do you retain two versions of one photo? (color and b&w)
OpenSourcePhoto > Digital Photography > Post Processing > Lightroom

I just turned Mac and started using Lightroom. I should have done one thing at a time, but I just love tearing my hair out.

If I like a picture in color and b&w I give them both versions. In Photoshop I'd just label it with "bw". In Lightroom I created a virtual copy, hit grayscale and there it is. But when I export the photos it doesn't appear under the folder I put them all in. Just the color version.

Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

did you try checking to see if you have both files picked for export?

I think you you have to make sure you haven't stacked the virtual copies together...so make sure that you can actually see both versions selected in Library mode, then they both should export, and if you're doing it all at once, it should be in the same folder.

How are you naming the files when you export them? Because the other thing I'm thinking is that the virtual copies in LR have the same file name in LR, so if you're keeping the file names the same when you export that might be why you're only seeing one.

When you export the original and virtual copy you will see the virtual copy as imgxxxx– 2. LR renames it for you.

well so much for me being smarter than LR unsure.gif .....I always rename when exporting (so I have a fresh sequence with no gaps in the numbers), so I wasn't positive about that but I was just taking a stab at it. thanks for clearing that up
