Hi, I just bought a Canon marcro lens and it makes kind of a winding sound when I focus. Does anybody else have a macro lens that does this? Is that normal?

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the reason the 50mm macro is noisy is a result of the motor. It is not USM (Ultrasonic Motor) like many models of the 100mm, so they will all have that winding sound. So yes, it is normal.

Yay, thank you so much, then I won't have to return it and get a new one. Whew. Thanks again!
