No I didn't get the 3G iPhone - I simply upgraded my 8-gig first gen model and got all the new stuff.

Check it out - custom icons for the Home Screen.

With all it does, doesn't it take a long time to learn how to use all the features?

(This coming from a girl that has never had a iAnything, a Blackberry or even a phone that's new enough to have ringtone capability..... laugh.gif )

All of, say, 11 minutes. literally.

Ginger, you would be astonished at how ridiculously easy and intuitive the iPhone is to use!

Agreed - this IS a revolutionary device. You seriously take it out of the box and play. It's worth every penny and I payed full price in line the first time.

You could do custom icons without the software update. I had an OSP icon months ago smile.gif

Ginger - it's SOOOOOO super easy. You'll fall in love with it!

OK, I have a Treo. Yeah, it's not as cool as an iPhone, but it IS smart. thumbsup.gif Having said that I'm thinking about dropping Verizon like a bad habit as soon as our contract is up in Nov. I've been dreaming about getting an iPhone since I bought my iPod last year. Especially since my 700w won't snyc with my new Mac.

Seriously, how smart is the iPhone?

So after loving my 3G for several days, I am fuming at apple. Why in the world do I need to buy a song that I already legally own just to use it as a ringtone? I dont' mind forking over the $0.99 to convert it into a ringtone (but that should be free anyway), but to have to buy it again! That's ridiculous! Anyone have a way around this?

You're fuming at the wrong people smile.gif ... It's the dying music industry that imposes these restrictions not Apple. The Apple folks are the ones that got music to be sellable online and have done wonders to open up the music industry to this new world of the internet. smile.gif

Well they did put the restriction on the phone. It is true that apple has done great with itunes, but it is unfortunate that they would haveto resort to limiting what people can do with their legit copies of CDs they have piling up on their shelfs. Some of my music isn't even on itunes, and I've used my custom ringtone for the past 3 years. sad.gif

itoner rocks.

Also keep in mind that you can create/edit/add ringtones using GarageBand '08! Pretty nifty.
