This was a really hard process....there were several that I really loved, all for different reasons. But this one won out based on it's simplicity and 'brand-ability". I think I will be able to do a lot with it.
I like
our old one.... it really suited us when we did a lot of in-studio shooting ...mostly kids. But it looks too juvenile next to our current lifestyle shots. So......I'm thinking I'd like to sell it to someone who shoots a lot of children.
I paid $1500 to have it done originally, but I wouldn't expect near that much now. PM me if this sounds like something you'd like. I would like to make at least $500 -- enough to pay for my new one.

I'm thinking it would be a win-win....I'd pay for my new logo and someone would get a great new/old logo for a reasonable amount.
Tell me what you think.

Love the new logo Ginger!!!
BTW, I miss your old avatar, when t was actually YOU. It seems so in vogue now to have avatars that are hard to see who it is or are just plain somebody else, but I truly enjoyed seeing your avatar soooo much more when it was you.

I am cute aren't I??

JK
I just got tired of that picture. I will put it back. I'm just enjoying getting to know some of the more famous redheads. So far I've had one of Lindsy Lohan, Lucille Ball and now Gillian Anderson. Next, I think I'm going to do Rita Hayworth, Carol Burnett, and I HAVE to do Molly Ringwold before I finish.
What I really need is someone fabulous to do some pictures of me. Anyone know a good photographer??
Oh, and thanks for the nice words about the logo. I hope it will be a good one for me.

No one has any thoughts on selling an 'used' logo? Here, I'll get you started....
"You're crazy, Ging. NO ONE wants a logo that's been used!!!"

or
"Heck yes, it's awesome. Someone with the right client base would love to have it ...with their own name, of course.

"
or
"Who do you think you are? Selling a logo? Doesn't it belong to the designer?? (No. I have the rights to it.

)
Is there any reason you can think of that I SHOULDN'T sell it?? Thanks!

you crazy redhead.
if you sell your logo, isnt that selling 'you' and your business I.D. to whomever - your associated with that brand so if i were you, no. i would not sell it but not only that, i dont think there is a high demand for used logos - i'm thinking most people want something that is more relative to who they are, not someone else.

You're awesome. Tellin' it like it is.....
Yeah, I've thought about that, but truth is I don't have THAT many clients. Plus, I haven't associated myself with two sweet 'heart-bearing' children for a while. I've faded the image into the background behind my name for over a year now.
You may have a great point about others wanting something that show who they are.....but I've got to think that there are lots of photogs out there who are all about sweet children. But I dunno....

that's why I want y'alls opinion.

I think your new logo is really nice Ginger! My .02 is not to sell your old one, but that is just mere unknowledgable opinion from me.

Thanks for weighing in Crystal. I appreciate it. And, I guess, we have a mutual logo admiration club going 'cause I still covet your logo.

It is perfection! (As I've said in the past.)

Your old logo is cute. I love the flash animation on it.
Could you possibly re-purpose it yourself? Something like "A Moment in Time Kids" or something?

Thanks Jamie, I love the flash animation too.
I started off thinking about how to re-purpose....but it just wasn't working for me. So I have a new one.

I'd say that it can't hurt to try and sell it. Especially if you are moving away from your old image. I don't know if anyone would want a used logo but it can't hurt to try. Besides, I have to imagine that there are a few new photogs out there that can't afford a new one and would want to save some bucks on a great old one. And since it is such a universal logo it would really fit anybody that does children photography. Just try to sell it to someone outside of your client market and you can't go wrong. Love the new logo by the way!

This was kinda my thinking on this. Thanks for chiming in....I was starting to think I was crazy for thinking this way. I love the kids, but I won't be needing it. Seems a shame to have it disappear forever.
dunno what I'll end up doing.

Who made the old one? If it was designed by someone else, I would question the ethics of selling it. Doesn't seem that different from someone buying a digital negative from you, throwing some actions on it, and selling it to someone else.
Honestly, the old logo looks really dated and well, not that hip, to me. Sorry! But if it's yours to sell freely, and the original designer is you or someone who doesn't care if it's resold, I would give it a whirl. With the ability to market it online, there's a good chance someone would snap at it.

Actually it was a girl in my town and I.....we conceptualized it together. (She had the tools, I didn't.) It is kinda like that except that I paid for the right to do it. That's why it was $1500. Now I can do anything I wish with it.

Yep, I know it's dated. That was our original intention....I worked out of a 1940s bungalow that we had renovated. It totally worked for us then, but now....not so much. Thanks for posting....you totally confirmed my decision to completely move away from the old logo.....not that hip.

I SO gotta tell my brother and husband, who still think the kids are cool.

If it were me that needed a logo, I would never buy a logo from someone else who had used it for awhile- I think its perfectly ethical to sell it because you own it- and maybe there are new photogs that would be interested- but I would never be- developing logos is all part of the fun
I do agree that your new logo is way better and current- I like it and I think it will work well for you

Thanks Joshua! Seeing what you do, I'm glad you like the new one.

And normally, I'd agree that there is some fun in the development process, but after completing the process in the middle of wedding season....well let's just say I wasn't feeling it.

Too stressful.
Oh and thanks for letting me know your thoughts on the ethicality ...um ethicalness...wow, I must be tired. I'm usually REALLY good with words.
Going home. Night y'all.
