Full Version: How's the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8?

Hi OSP,

What's your opinion of this Tamron:

Tamron AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF)

This may be a better alternative to the used Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8.

Would you recommend this lens?

Thanks!

SarahQ
I have the Canon version of that lens and I love it! Got it when I had ZERO dollars for good Canon glass and still use it all the time.

I have a good friend that uses it exclusively as his mid range lens. He had the Nikon 35-70 (or whatever it was) but he dropped it and pulled this out of his bag (it was the backup), as far as I know, he has used it on about 10 weddings and you really can't tell a difference. I do know that he is looking for the Nikon 24-70 like I have but said he will always keep the Tamron as a backup.

I like the lens a lot and I am going to get one as a back up.

I have the Canon version also and it hardly ever leaves my camera unless I am using my 70-200 2.8L. Some of the sharpest pictures I have taken were with this lens SOOC.

I use it every singel day, and I love it.

Wow, OSP Rocks!

Thank you everyone for the feedback and advice. In the multitude of counsel there is safety. clap.gif

This seems like a better choice for me at this time and it's $100 less than the used Nikkor 35-70 I've had my eye on. I had read some stuff about quality issues and some being OK and others not working. Seems like everyone I've asked who's used it love it.

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted. tongue.gif
