I have an upcoming boudoir shoot with one of my brides. She is doing this as a wedding gift for her future hubby (lucky guy!). Just wanted some input from you guys as to lens choices (what do you find yourself reaching for most of the time during these sessions?) I was assuming I would rely pretty much on my 50 and my 24 for indoor and them maybe the 85 or 70-200 for some beach shots she wants to get. These are all on a Canon 30D by the way. I just wanted to get some input from you gurus out there so that some of the guesswork will be removed before I get in there. I am really comfortable with portraits but I know this is a different mood and feel than what I have done in the past. Any suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks in advance!

By the way Tami, if you're out there... I am addicted to primes and I blame you!!! wink.gif Ha ha! It's a great addiction!

We use the 70-200mm 2.8 a lot, and also the 50mm 1.4. (on 5D's) Oh yeah, and make it FUN!

hehehehe...... why, whatever are you talking about? i've never used a prime in my life....... ph34r.gif

i'm about to buy the 85 1.2 L !!!!!!!!

i use either my 24, 50, 85 or 135 - i use the 135 for some really really good portrait shots.

and i use these on a 40D

We usually use the 70-200 2.8IS & the 85 1.2... Have fun! smile.gif

ashley, she'll probably be nervous, i would sift through a few fashion magazines and cut out some pose references - they are really helpful and can help warm things up.

where is the shoot going to be at?

tami,

i will deinitely do the magazine thing, that's a great idea! And she has been looking through stuff as well getting ideas of what she wants.

we are starting at her best friend's parents' house. It's got a beautiful courtyard and lovely furniture and what not. I guess another friend also did some similar shots there. I have no idea who will be there while we're shooting (i should i ask, huh?) Then she wants to get some shots at the beach in that puuuurty evening light...

It's a bit tough for a guy to shoot these. I'm doing one pretty soon and she approached me with pages from MAXIM! talk about nervous....I think I'll be the nervous one instead of her! wacko.gif
