I need some help from you computer smart people. I really want to be on my laptop and be able to access the files on my PC. I already have my broadband internet hooked up on a router. I read this how-to guide and it says I can use a router. Is this router they are talking about the same as my D-link router I now use for the internet? Also the guide says I can use an ethernet cord. Does this mean I have to use an ethernet cord every time I want to access the files? Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks for any help.

If you run Mac OS X, this is a no-brainer. On Windows, it's a pain in the ass.

Call someone and have them do it. It'll cost but it's easiest if you don't have any technical know how.
