Full Version: Photoshop CS3 Image Processor Question...
OpenSourcePhoto > Digital Photography > Misc. Photo Question

Okay....

So, when I edit a wedding I edit it all in color - throw it in Image Processor and batch a B&W version of each color image. In CS2 it would process the images and close them one by one. In CS3, for some reason, it wants to process each image, save it, and leave it open. Needless to say after it processes a couple hundred images it errors out because it still has them all open. Plus, it slows photoshop to a point where even closing them all is a PITA. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I'm not seeing? Helllp!

Thank you wink.gif

I'm using CS3 and Image Processor and not having that problem. That's strange. Is something different with the action you're using? You could put your save/close commands in the action and then use Batch instead of IP, but you lose the ability to specify where the saved files end up (it's defined in the action at that point.).

ETA: Rudy's image processor may or may not work with CS3, and may or may not fix your problem, but you could try it:http://www.damuseful.com/pages/PimpMyBridge.html

Thanks Bill... the action is the same one I use in CS2 - I have no clue why it's not working. I have having to have BOTH installed. Right now I have CS2 AND CS3 installed because of this... I don't want to mess with the action (like you said I can't specify where I save it then either) I just want it to work like CS2! I may have to give Adobe a call. Thanks!

Melody- do you have enough disc space? We see that occasionally and usually that's the problem.

PS: You may also want to try Dr. Brown's 1-2-3 Process. Think "Image Processor on 'Roids." However, he strongly cautions to only install if CS2 has been uninstalled completely.

Yeah, I have over a TB free on that drive - it does save the images - it just leaves them open while processing them instead of closing each one after saving like CS2 does.

Thanks for the software recommendation - I am trying to avoid using third party applications - just wishing photoshop would do what it's supposed to :/

Thanks Leon!

Do you have a computer that doesn't have CS2 on it? maybe something is conflicting from one version to the other?
Leon
Bummer... I'll keep thinking and let you know... You on Mac or PC?

FYI- "Dr. Brown" is Russell Brown, Creative Director of Photoshop, so don't fear the script. It's solid and fully supported by Adobe.

Thanks guys smile.gif I'm using the PC now - I guess I will try it on the mac & see if it does the same thing - if it does then I will call Adobe and harass them wink.gif

did you ever find a solution to the problem? I am having the same issues... some actions will batch out fine, others will give me the same error... sad.gif

I found a workaround by installing russell brown's version. His 1-2-3 process is much better/ more flexible anyway...

It is still annoying not to know the root of the original problem...
