Full Version: Hooking up the MBP on iMac to take advantage of bigger screen

In reading the recent thread about MBP vs iMac someone suggested hooking up the MBP with a cinema display and am wondering if I can hook up my MBP to my iMac to utilize the bigger screen when at home. This has always been a problem for me. I want to use the bigger screen when I'm at home but that means storing my work in progress on a mini external drive and lugging that around with my laptop... is there a way?

Thanks for any input!

eh, didn't think so.

What do peeps do in the same situation? Use a mini external as I mentioned?

There is a way of doing it, there is a piece of software you can buy. My husband was just telling me about it the other day-- he's on the road right now, but will look at what the name was when he is able to later today.

usually the imacs have glossy screens so you shouldnt be using them anyway for image editing as the colors will be false for printing, or not as accurate as they should be.

Ive been looking into the new macbook pro 17inch, with a 90$ upgrade you can get an HD lcd screen with 1900x1600 ish pixels, making it the same as a 24inch imacs monitor, what i currently do as i work mainly on a macbook pro is have 2 viewsonic monitors which i hook up on either side and it works really well when the macbook pro is setup on a stand/stage.
