When I am finished with a session I keep the edited and unedited form of all the pictures. I am afraid someone will want it in color or b&w down the road so I keep the unedited. Does anyone else do this??? I would rather not because it is a lot to look at but I fear I will need the originals down the road.

Yes! I keep the RAW files, I keep the original JPGs I export from Lightroom, I keep a "clean edited" copy if it's different than the Lightroom export, AND then I do fun processed edits on certain photos. So I could have like five different copies of the same photo

Yeah I just keep the original RAW files with the edited jpgs so I can easily go back and do something different. Even if it's not for a client. For instance if I start liking a certain post processing I can easily re-edit stuff on my website.

I keep two versions. The original and then the edited. The originals are completely necessary if they ever want to change it to color from b&w etc. I know it is a lot of storage space (escpecially if they are RAW files), but it is totally needed.
hope this helps

Yes, I keep the RAW files and the edited jpegs. If I need to go back to something, I go back to the RAW.

How long do you keep a session on your drive before burning it off to a disc and deleting it from your drive? How long do you keep the discs?

I'm in the habit of of burning the RAW or original JPGs to DVD right after a shoot. My hard drives are pretty new, but I still can't trust them 100%. As I do edits I back them up on an external drive. Then, all final edits get backed up to DVD. As long as I have the hard drive space, I try to keep everything from the last six months on my computer for easy access. After that they finally get deleted but I have still have the DVDs if I need them.

Hi Dawn,
Yes, I keep the RAW files too! I back-up everything, RAW, jpegs, etc. to two External HD's and a DVD.
