So I saw this ad in gmail today.

Seriously reverse 911. I can see it now....

Them:"Hello this is emergency services Jim brown on 115 oak street in tulsa oklahoma lost a hand!!"
Me: "Well thank you very much that's great to know!"

Me calling in an emergency: "Hello i just got in a car accident can you please send help!"
Them: "We'll send help right away"
*Cell Rings*
Me:"Hello!?"
Them: "Hello this is emergency services and you have experienced a car accident in..."
Me: "I CALLED YOU I KNOW WHAT KIND OF EMERGENCY I HAD!!"

I fail to see the benefit of this reverse 911.....

I thought reverse 911 was to let people know of an emergency they might have to take action about. For example if there is a fire with a hazardous material present, they will use reverse 911 to call everyone within the evacuation zone to let them know they need to leave if they are at home.

I'm not sure what it means in the context of the ad you linked to though...

You guys just don't see it like I do, and if ya don't see it that way it's not funny. Kinda like telling a one liner 4 times for someone who hasn't heard it, by the 4th time it's moot. Lol, just that this time it's like i'm the only one who can hear it.

I like how when I empty my spam folder, the google ad is always for some kind of recipe involving spam. I got "Ginger Spam Salad" just now. Because when you are thinking healthy, thinking salad.....THINK SPAM! MMm-mmm.

Some types of humor don't come across that well on the net.

I just have always thought it's funny when someone makes a funny observation and someone else answers them completely deadpan and obtusely refuses to see the humor. Seinfeld relied on this heavily and I guess that's the generation I grew up in.

I never was terribly good at reading internet humor myself, and i actually have only seen two episodes of the Seinfeld sitcom and haven't seen him do stand up, so that's probably why i'm lacking
