Hello all,

I have been using Jorgensen albums and love them, but recently I decided to widen my portfolio and introduce GraphiStudio albums. I have got the sample portfolio all through, but have a query with how you design the actual album. Nowhere does it seem to explain this clearly. I know they don't have their own dedicated software which seems crazy to me, but I was wondering if I'm totally missing something here??

Really appreciate any help!!

I thought Graphi had their own software in the works - there was even Beta releases I think... I can't remember the specifics exactly...

In the graphi trade area where registered photogs can log in, there is documents you can download. The one you want is the Print and Bind PDF. In here, it gives specific dimensions for album sizes and orientations. Use these as a reference.

As well, there are a number of people who sell templates for album design, some in Photoshop, some in In Design.

Additionally, programs like Yervant's Page Gallery and Fotofusion have templates for major album vendors. Page Gallery has specific templates for all the Graphi albums, so you just select your orientation (square, portrait or landscape) and after your album is built, you specify the output size (9.5x13, etc. etc.) and it will build your album perfectly to these dimensions.

Best of luck, all my graphi albums have been flawless to date.

I do GraphiStudio albums and I do all my designing in InDesign... pretty quick and easy.

Yes, they do have their own software. It's called Leonardo or something like that. There were some concerns as to them charging you for using it - almost as if they were doing the design rather than it just being the print & bind costing. I don't know if that's been resolved. I think you can download it in your trade area now or just ask them for a cd.

To design a Graphi album you don't actually HAVE to have software. Hell yeah, it makes it far easier!! I use Yervant's Page Gallery but all you need to do is make yourself a template based on the size of album you're designing and put on guides in photoshop for the cut-off/trim areas which you'll find in your trade-area and just started designing your layouts.

Have a look also at DG Foto Art. We use this all the time, we now have hundreds of our own templates, which can all be tweaked within seconds, it allows you to email a proof album out to your client direct from the software, really easy to learn, and you can also do some basic editing within the software. It's now available on PC and Mac platforms.
