Hi all,
I have tried several different free webstat counters on my site and am having trouble getting one to work. I have a Statcounter on my blog and it works great. I put one on my splash page and it doesn't register ANY hits when I know I'm getting them because Statcounter shows that people are coming to my blog FROM my splashpage. So I tried out gostats.com and it is doing the same thing.
What am I doing wrong? I copied and pasted the code exactly like it said to do.

Also, my splash page is all centered nicely like it is supposed to be when viewed with Firefox and Safari, but all out of whack on IE. Any guesses on how to fix that?

Thanks SO much!

did you make up a separate project in statcounter for your website?

i have all mine set up (i have 4) and they all work fine - but on one of my sites, (bludomain) i had to have them go in and fix it -

you dont have a blu site do you?
Cindy Mills
Yes, all separate projects. I do have a blu site and it doesn't work on statcounter, but it does work on gostats but the one I'm really frustrated with is on my splash page and it's not blu....I made it myself (which could be the problem). ph34r.gif

yah, i bet that is the problem - have you installed the stat code in the correct section in your control panel? have you asked harold or wade to see if they can help? becuse its custom work on your splash page, i bet they wont.
Cindy Mills
That's the issue...it works on my bludomain site, but the splash page is one that I made myself (using photoshop) and it's pretty basic (I think) and the code is not working on the splash page, but it WORKS on the blu site.

Figured it out.....finally
My editing software was changing the gostats code when it published it to the internet. So I just opened it in TextWrangler, fixed it and then FTP'd it and that worked!
I was about to pull my hair out. Thanks for the help. wink.gif

Cindy, use Google Analytics - it's easily got the best web stats info available.
