Sean McLellan
We wanted to try something new at Jessica & Jason’s wedding. We brought a 5th camera with us, specifically for shooting a new style of slideshow–or should I say, an old style motion picture?

To be honest, it's been done before.... John Michael Cooper (AltF) did this oh.. at least a year ago? if not longer.. I'll have to go and search for the thread on DWF.

Thank you so much, everybody!

I did get a few questions through email/pm/etc, and thought I'd share the answers here just in case anybody else was curious.

"How many shooters and assistants did you have altogether for the wedding? Was it just you and Mel or was there someone else, too?"

"Did you have one additional photographer for this 5th camera slide show? Did the couple ask why you were taking so many images at one time?"

Just me and Mel... I usually shoot with a camera on each shoulder... so this time, I was loaded down with three cameras... many of the shots are from the 5th camera, but we filled in the "holes" from the wedding with shots from our usual coverage.

And did anybody ask why we were shooting so much? Nope--from outward appearances, we shoot somewhat psychotic in comparison to most people... jumping all over the place, high up, down low, on the ground, shooting from the hip, overhead, etc. etc. Lots of clicks probably wasn't even something that anybody noticed

"How many images is this slideshow made of?"

*Just* the keepers for that slideshow is slightly short of 1300. We shot hella images that day. I think I ordered 40GB of CF cards the next day, so that we'd never run low again.

Sean, that was really fantastic. I'm sure Jessica and Jason are thrilled!

I just noticed you guys are in Franklin, TN. There's a great guy named Roger Day that lives there....sings kids songs. Hopefully you know him, but if not be sure to look him up if you need fun songs for your kid sessions!

Phew that was tiring and FANTASTIC! I can't wait to see the next one!

I attended the Anti-Workshop and JMC presented this slide show. This was during his talk on being different as a photographer. Shooting what you like and shooting with a plan/pre-visualizing. He did this slide show for his Zero package that he offers to his clients. Basically you have zero say in what he shots or how he shots or what he delivers from your wedding. In his words "I can shot your shoes the entire day and give you a album of shoe shots and you could say nothing about it". He guarantees it will be something you have never seen before. The entire show was shot horizontal on a tripod. The cost of this package is $$$$$$$$$. He would not tell us but he assured it was pricey.

I can't believe it , you are the chosen one.................................lovely...................................
amity
um, that was quite possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen on a photography website. inspiring to say the least.
jodieb
Can I ask how you did this? Did you just have a regular camera on continuous shooting mode???

So cool.
Aaron Pelly
Sean, that was awesome!

I second Jodie's question - I'm guessing that you picked up that third camera around your neck and shot with it in between times of shooting with your main cameras.

Fantastic, creative, beautiful!
Sean McLellan
Thanks again, everybody! Jodie and Aaron--we brought a fifth camera... which, I believe, was a 20D. I set it to JPEG so it would have a larger buffer, and used it for sequences throughout the day. We filled in some gaps with shots from our regular cameras.

Other people already do it. Craig Strong- the inventor of lensbaby showed us how to do it at Kevin Kubotas bootcamp- he does it at all of his weddings.

I think it is an awesome thing to do and ever since I saw it- I have wanted to do it, but I have been to lazy to implement it.

Your video looks sawesome! Very Awesome!

Hmm, but the quality on this one is really poor! The other guy Sean's, is better and you are right, I have seen it before as well, it is not a new tecnique, unfortunatley nothing is new anymore..jusr revised;)

There must be something in the air -- I just did a stop motion video just like this for my kids on Sunday! We had a ball--- I would love to post it, but it's kids and not wedding-related. We did some funky stuff with flying and riding each other like a skateboard and stuff.

Very cool effect! AWESOME edit! I was experimenting with my kids to try it someday at a wedding - you beat me to it!

You're a total pioneer---
