Just got a imac on Sat, and paid $199 for a 2GB in memory upgrade. Went back to Best Buy today to get a Time Capsule and saw the memory now on sale for $79. Get them while you can.

Ross, Macs are extremely picky about which ram is installed in them. That being said, I absolutely hate best buy and suggest that everyone stay as far away as possible from them - especially for anything mac.

Buy Mac RAM from either of these places, and you'll see a big difference:

http://www.macsales.com also known as Other World Computing - they specialize in everything mac and have EXCELLENT customer service, technical support and wonderful products at kickass prices.

http://www.transintl.com - they have a wide array of mac and PC upgrades, including a great selection of RAM categorized by each computer model and when it was manufactured (again, macs are picky - so you need to make sure and get the right RAM.) Their RAM is matched to apple's memory and is covered by a LIFETIME WARRANTY!

Best of luck. Just not at Best Buy.

The memory was made by Kingston, so I am not that too worried about that. I know some hate the big box store, but for me I love Best Buy. When they sold CD's way back when they started at 11.99 compared to the Virgin store at 16.99, they had me. Also, DVD new releases on Tuesday's were sold as loss leaders at 14.99, for the first week, where others sold at 19.99. Idea for that to get them in the door, so the public will buy more. Me, I go straight for the sale, and leave. It's not a new concept. I don't go their for advice, I go there for price.

Thanks for the links, for the mac stuff. I am new to this world and loving it. There is so much out there. Good to know who to go to for extras. I know Best Buy will be minimal in what they carry. Plus they had two year 0% interest on my 24inch imac
