First time with the new RPs. No post process, just resized for the web (color adjusted for 'save 4 web' and sharpened, but that's it).

Put the camera on a tripod (yes I have one of those) and went out on the deck in the backyard to practice. Not totally sure I have the off camera TTL stuff down, but it's got huge potential for adding pop to outdoor images with minimal weight - 580s are much nicer to carry than Alien Bees and Vagabonds...

Setup is 2 580EX IIs off camera - one on a stand, one in my hand, and a ST-E2 on the camera.

Your shutter is 1/3200 with a remote flash? ETTL? The rules have changed indeed. Awesome pic! Thanks for posting!

Do I still look like John Cusack? wink.gif

One thing I'd like to note if you're considering buying a ST-E2 to use with your canon flashes and/or RPs - it only does eTTL - it won't let you set a manual flash output setting. If you use a 580 as the master (on the camera) you have the choice of setting manual flash power or using eTTL. I really wish the ST-E2 had that option.

I should have put this in the lighting section... Matt, want to move it for me? smile.gif

Are you saying with the ST-E2 AND the RPs? Cuz I use manual mode with ST-E2 and 580's all the time...

Really? smile.gif Tell me how?

The RPs don't change the functionality at all, they just add reliability to the equation. and remove the need for line of sight.

To switch to manual mode, hold down the mode button till the flashing M appears, set flashes to slave, turn on your ST-E2 and fire.

Thanks Terry!! I'm glad for that, but it would be nice of Canon to update the ST-E2 so it could be set remotely like it can be if you're using a 580 as the master...
JAC
I don't tend to use the ST-E much now that I've figured out how to turn off the 580 ex. Now I can turn it off or on, instantly, and use my other flashes as slaves.
Amy Clark
Wowza! That is fantastic.

Sorry I don't have any pictures, and I'm too busy this week to take and post any... But basically it just mounts with Velcro to the top the ST-E2 - just like it was made to fit there (cuz it was). smile.gif
