Ok, so this may be old news and if so, it shows how crazy I have been the past two months and not keeping up with my PDN articles! Sorry if this is redundant, but if not here you go...so exciting!
In the May issue of PDN, OSP was listed as number 45 on the "46 reasons to LOVE Photography Now." Its a cool article as follows:
Wedding Photographer Forums
Go ahead. Look down your nose at wedding photographers if you must, but they are a congenial lot with a think or two to teach the rest of the photo industry about the benefits of strong community. Wedding photo forums such as Open Source Photo(the name says it all) and DWF are full of photographers helping photographers with tips, tutorials, critiques and general shop talk intended to raise all boats. The undercurrents of competitive reserve and grouchiness present on other types of pro photography forums are conspicuously absent here, perhaps because the field isn't as cutthroat as, say, photojournalism, and because wedding photography tends to attract sunny extroverts. To be sure, the mutual congratulation on the wedding forums is a bit saccharine and overbearing at times, but the motives are genuine and the forums have substance. "As wedding photographers, we feel that, hey, if you put it out there, more is going to come back to you. It seems to be a sharing environment," says photographer Jason Sandifer. "People are establishing themselves as leaders in our community by giving good advice."
