Google is kind of scary creature. At any moment they're algorithims could change those of us that are reeping the benefits of being on the 1st page will be slaughtered.

None the less...good news for those with Flash sites.....which is like 99% of the industry.

Wow! Thanks for posting this.

The listings for "gainesville FL wedding photographer" are very different than they were before already. Too bad I'm still nowhere near the front tongue.gif Thank goodness for Google Business Listings!

Crap, you're right! We dropped a few places now that they're indexing the flash sites. Bleah sad.gif

if they are indexing the flash sites, does it mean that I can drop my splash page? wink.gif

Theoretically, yes...but I certainly would'nt do so just yet. The new algorithm allows the bot to crawl swf's, drop down menus, but not flv's and some javascript functions.

In the next 6 months? I would certainly say so!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but .flv's are the source file for your Flash, and that would *never* be put up as a website, only the swf's... so that's not a concern at all.

If you like your google listing location, I'd still be hesitant to drop the Splash just because I don't know how that might be working into it.

Matt: You have nothing to worry about rolleyes.gif

There's also the possibility that your once 'safe' slideshow images will now also be indexed by Google and turn up in their image searches

Never, ever (ever), put anything on the Web that you don't want to be made public. Unless you have a password-protected page.

Dang! You're right Nick. You and I both dropped to the top of page 2 now! Blah. Off to find a new magic trick for SEO.

By safe I meant the images in the main pages of many bludomain and similar template websites ... a la swf
