I just noticed they have updated Leopard to 10.5.4...yay!

Now my iCal is working right again!
MeeksDigital
oh finally.... maybe i'll be able to save files to my server again in CS3 without having it corrupt the files and freeze the program. 10.5.3 did horrible things to CS3 programs trying to save to remote locations. thanks for posting!

As with all OS updates, everyone should remember to DOWNLOAD THE COMBO UPDATE and not use Software Update... you can get the 10.5.4 combo update here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...omboupdate.html

Tami,

Leopard is miles ahead of Tiger. Really, you are missing a lot. I have Leopard on my MacBook Pro, and when I go into our old Powerbook running Tiger for something, it just seems so antiquated.

Two finger scrolling on the trackpad is the first thing that I notice - but there is something like 300 improvements from on OS to the other.

Things like just hitting the spacebar to bring up a preview of an image is very handy to.

Leopard s soooo cool.

I believe there were issues at the start, but quickly resolved. We use CS3 and Leopard, no problem. It goes without saying that you need to make a copy of your actions folder, and everything else for that matter.

Good luck with it.

Tami, there are no issues as of now. An leopard update (10.5.1) addressed many of the CS3 issues, and 10.5.3 introduced a few which have been resolved with 10.5.4. All in all, I've NEVER had any issues with CS3 besides those caused by 10.5.3 so I'm thankful for this new update. Apple works hard at keeping everyone happy... you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well everything works on leopard, and it is a HUGE step forward from Tiger. I don't see why anyone WOULDN'T run leopard on a mac now... honestly it's the best operating system I've ever used. Period.

Update:

I installed 10.5.4 about 4 days ago and there are no issues that I know of (I've tested extensively) in any of the CS3 programs. Rock on!

First time I've heard of the Combo Update. What's the difference?

The combo update can span several updates.

So, if for example there is a version 1, version 2 , version 3 and version 4, if you are on version 1, a combo update can take you all the way to version 4. Better than doing them one by one.

Basically, it is a combination of updates.

The combo updates tend to be a lot more reliable than the OS updates through Software Update utility. My understanding is that they completely remove certain files and replace them, instead of overwriting them, which apparently is what Software Update does.

As Hugh said, they also span many updates, so for example if you were running 10.5.1 you could update to 10.5.4 without running the two updates in between.

Combo updates are much larger files (This one came in at a whopping 544 megabytes or something - in comparison, Software Update's version was 59 megabytes) which further makes me believe that they do literally replace the patched files with completely new ones instead of overwriting.

Good times.

Enjoy!

That's the route I took... thanks for the heads up!
